The Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark has been the biggest star in the WNBA (catch games all season on NBC and Peacock!) basically since her debut, coming out of the University of Iowa as a record-breaking college basketball superstar. With that stardom came endorsement deals aplenty, which is why you’ve seen Clark on TV not just playing ball, but selling everything from sports drinks to insurance.

All this time, though, Clark fans have been wondering: When would Clark’s deal with Nike, which began four years ago, produce her first signature shoe? Well, the wait is over. This week, Nike Basketball and Clark introduced the Caitlin 1, the first shoe to come out of their partnership, and fans are already itching to get their hands on Clark’s first sneaker.

What to know about Caitlin Clark’s signature Nike shoe, the Caitlin 1

Unveiled on June 17, the Caitlin 1 is a bright blue sneaker featuring color pops on the soles, a Caitlin Clark logo on the tongue, and Nike’s signature swoosh in white along the ridged sides. Nike describes the shoe’s features like this: “A responsive Air Zoom Turbo unit paired with Cushlon foam helps you stay smooth and controlled through every move. The innovative Nike Opticast upper delivers lightweight, locked-in support, so you can push tempo without feeling weighed down.”

According to Sports Illustrated, the Opticast upper is brand-new technology introduced with this shoe, designed for reduced drag and efficient movements on the court.

The Caitlin 1 will retail for $140, and pre-orders sold out on Nike’s website within 24 hours, making them one of the most in-demand shoes of the year. Nike plans to release the Caitlin 1 on October 1, but fans could see Clark wearing them during games as early as this week. And the Caitlin 1s are rolling out alongside an expansive new line of apparel including shirts, shorts, pullovers, and more.

“What excites me most is what this can mean for the next generation,” Clark told SI. “If it inspires even one kid to work harder or fall in love with the game, that’s what makes it special. This is so much more than a shoe — it’s about helping grow the game.”
