A cyclist is dead after a vehicle driving in the same direction struck them in the city’s northeast Saturday, Calgary police say.
It happened at around 1:35 p.m., when a vehicle driving north on Centre Street between 19 and 21 avenues struck a cyclist going in the same direction.
Police say the vehicle kept going, hitting a parked vehicle before stopping at the 21 Avenue intersection.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, officers say.
The driver, meanwhile, received medical treatment on the scene.
Officers say Centre Street North is closed in both directions between 18 and 21 avenues while the police traffic unit investigates.
