During the second red flag of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series United Rentals Driven to Serve 250, a fan scaled two fences to walk onto the track and talk to Sheldon Creed Saturday afternoon.
The fan was promptly arrested by federal agents for pulling this stunt on what is quite easily the dumbest track to attempt it on, since it doubles as an active military base.
Creed radioed his team about the interaction, saying that he believed the fan was ‘wasted.’
“I think he’s wasted. I didn’t even understand what he was saying,” Creed radioed.
“I just let the officials know that we have no part. with this guy,” Jonathon Toney replied.
“They’re running after him now,” Creed shared.
The CW Sports followed the fan as he rescaled the two fences in his flip-flops and returned to the crowd, fist-bumping others. They also followed him as he was handcuffed against an unmarked police SUV and arrested.
Similar stunts have been pulled in the past. In 2007, a fan walked onto the track at Watkins Glen and asked Matt Kennseth for an autograph. In 2014, a fan scaled to the top of the catch fence at Richmond Raceway presumably bored that Brad Keselowski led every single lap.
