As reported by NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, Barrett has received plenty of trade interest from multiple teams this offseason.

“Toronto Raptors swingman RJ Barrett has drawn trade interest in multi-team conversations, league sources told HoopsHype,” Scotto wrote.

“The Canadian swingman is on an expiring $29.62 million contract this upcoming season.”

RJ Barrett draws trade interests from Raptors’ talks with other teams

Playing his second full season for the Toronto Raptors, Barrett averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, shooting 49.1 percent from the field in 30.2 minutes across 57 games.

He helped the Raps win 46 games and reach the NBA Playoffs with the No. 5 seed of the Eastern Conference, where he averaged a reliable 24.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in their seven-game, opening-round loss against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

As noted by Scotto, Barrett will indeed enter the final year of his contract and will earn $29.6 million next year. A potential trade suggests that the Raps aren’t fully willing to entertain an extended run with their hometown star.

Only time will tell if a trade will ultimately happen, as Barrett has shown he is a key piece of the Raptors’ core after helping the team’s previous special season.
