Another summer F.U.B.A.R. Golf Classic in Surrey will raise money for Make-A-Wish Canada’s B.C. and Yukon chapter.
It’s 16 years and counting for the charity golf tournament, hosted by Friends United Beyond All Race, aka F.U.B.A.R.
“Over $140,000 raised, hundreds of golfers united, countless dreams supported,” the website says.
This year’s fun-and-fundraising tournament will be held Sunday, Aug. 30 at Guildford Golf & Country Club, on 152 Street in Surrey.
Event planning is led by longtime Newton resident Al Lamons, aka DJ Alibaba, known for playing music at parties and events across Metro Vancouver over the past few decades.
“The golf tournament began as a way for us to transition from our nightlife events, like the legendary and original F.U.B.A.R. Long Weekend Parties, and to use our platform to do something positive,” Lamons explained in 2025. “We saw an opportunity to give back to the community through charity.”
The best-ball Classic is for men and women who want to have fun while making a meaningful impact, he says. Sponsorship, donations and raffle prizes are welcomed.
“Join us for an unforgettable day of golf, entertainment, great food and community as we help grant wishes for children living with critical illnesses,” Lamons said.
Registration is done on friendsunitedbeyondallrace.com, for the fee of $195 per golfer until July 31, or $245 after that date. Spots are limited to 128 golfers at the tournament, which has previously sold-out.
