The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a 48-year-old man after an investigation into a domestic dispute.
In a news release, police said that on June 19 after 8 p.m., officers responded to a report of a dispute involving two people North of Renfrew, in the village of Cobden.
A man from Chapeau, Que., was charged after an investigation.
Criminal Code offences he received:
Assault with a weapon
Assault
Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
Forcible confinement
Dangerous operation
Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts
Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused was arrested and held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice. Police say they will not release specific names to protect the identity of the victim(s).
