Surrey-Langley SkyTrain project outlines summer construction work

The Surrey-Langley SkyTrain project has released its quarterly construction advisory, letting commuters and residents know about progress and traffic changes that are underway or coming up soon.
The spring-summer advisory for the area from 184 to 203 Streets, covering Clayton Heights and Langley, notes a number of changes that have been in place for many months, including one-lane traffic each way on Fraser Highway and eastbound only traffic on Industrial Avenue.
It also notes some recent milestones, such as the Langley Launcher gantry’s progress from 184 Street past the site of the future Clayton Station as it hoists segments of the guideway into place.
Some other recent milestones and new projects:
• Foundations and new guideway columns are now under construction along Fraser Highway between 64 Avenue at the Langley Bypass.
• Pile-driving at the Willowbrook Station site wrapped up in early June, and station construction is now underway
• Guideway spans above 203 Street at the Langley City Station were put in place recently
• Construction of a new propulsion power station (PPS), providing the power to drive the trains, is ongoing at 201A Street and Industrial Avenue, with work on the walls and roofs starting this month
• Pile driving is still underway in the alley east of the Langley Bypass, and welding will take place overnight and on Sundays and holidays
• Column construction east of the Langley Bypass will follow the completion of the foundations
• Although the guideway isn’t yet finished, track installation is already starting on completed sections near 68 Avenue in Surrey and will continue through August. There may be traffic stops when new rails are delivered to the project
