Police say the man failed to resurface after jumping into the water near the Ungerman Park cliffs on Saturday evening
A 28-year-old Brampton man has died following a drowning incident in Gravenhurst on Saturday evening.
According to the Bracebridge detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, emergency crews were called to the Gravenhurst Wharf on Steamship Bay Road at approximately 5:50 p.m. on June 21 after reports of a possible drowning.
Police say a group of people had been spending time at the Ungerman Park cliffs when one individual failed to resurface after jumping into the water.
The man was pulled from the water and transported to the Muskoka Wharf by nearby boaters. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, he was pronounced deceased.
Police are reminding residents and visitors to exercise caution around waterways and to consider wearing a personal flotation device or lifejacket while enjoying recreational activities on the water.
The investigation remains ongoing.
