2nd day of summer sees Vancouver Island daily temperature records fall

For the second consecutive Monday, the Gonzales weather station in Victoria recorded a record-breaking warm day.
The second official day of summer, June 22, saw several sites in the Greater Victoria area break daily temperature records.
Victoria hit a high of 30.9 C, beating the June 22, 1936 record of 28.9. Gonzales Point and Esquimalt both hit a record of 27 C, two degrees over the old record set in 1961.
On June 15, the Gonzales station hit 28.1 C, over the 27. 8 C record set for the same day in 1930.
Up Island, Duncan eked out a daily record of 31.8 C over the 31.1 daily record set in 1965. Qualicum hit 29.9, nearly a full degree above the 29C set in 1992, and Port Hardy set a new daily record of 22.8 over the 21.6 C set in 2014.
Temperatures in Greater Victoria Tuesday are expected to hit a high of 28 C before dipping to 12 overnight. Wednesday promises cooler temperatures, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada, with a high of 23 C.
Rain is in the forecast on Friday and Saturday.
