A single-vehicle accident near an Edmonton transit station disrupted downtown traffic Wednesday morning, triggering rush hour road closures and commuter delays.
The crash occurred before 6 a.m. at 100th Street and 102nd Avenue, leaving damage and debris across the tracks at the street level station near the main library.
A car struck a pole and flipped onto its side, lying partially across the northern segment of the tracks. Downed signs and signal poles, along with a tire and broken glass lie near a white Jeep SUV, which was visibly warped from the impact.

Police have closed parts of 100th Street along the west side of Churchill Square, located between 102A Avenue and 101A Avenue.
Transit service is disrupted as the investigation continues.
In a post to social media Wednesday, transit officials said Valley Line trains are not running between the Downtown and Muttart stations due to the crash.
Bus contingency service between Downtown and Muttart has been arranged, officials said. Commuters are advised to watch ETS sites for additional updates throughout the morning.
