ZOE International’s Race Across America team continued its trek across the country on the fifth day of racing on Wednesday.
Lancaster County’s Brad Ortenzi and Randy Martin are cycling to raise money for ZOE International, a non-profit that works to raise awareness and to support those affected by child trafficking. So far, $188,024 of the $250,000 goal has been raised.
As of 5:50 p.m. Eastern time, Ortenzi was just a few miles short of entering Woodson County, Kansas. The ZOE International team was at route mile 1638.2 and were 13.5 miles from the next waypoint in Yates Center, Kansas.
Based on the livestream, the skies were partly cloudy with the sun poking through at times.
As the team headed to Yates Center. the day crew was on its shift.
In the follow van were Lori Ortenzi and Lois Martin, the riders’ wives. They are following the cyclists to ensure they stay on route and are safe throughout the journey.
At 5:45 p.m. former crew chief Allen Fisher was on the livestream and spoke highly of this year’s crew chief, Alex Martin, who is not related to Randy.
Fisher recalled a memory of Alex Martin being in the rain yet smiling throughout. He said he had no worries that Martin was doing an amazing job as this year’s crew chief.
The livestream continues to interview former team members, ZOE International employees and other sponsors to help raise awareness about child trafficking.
