A WNBA player says repeated explicit and threatening online messages forced her to change routines and caused nightmares, prosecutors said.
On Wednesday, a man from Indiana was charged with stalking WNBA player Sophie Cunningham and sending her threatening and explicit messages via social media.
Kevin Singh, 48, is charged with aggravated stalking and intimidation, and a misdemeanor count of harassment. He was arrested on Tuesday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said.
Sophie Cunningham, a player for the Indiana Fever, told investigators that because of Singh’s constant messages she has been staying home more and experiencing nightmares; she first learned of his alleged online misconduct in February of this year.
Singh’s online behavior escalated that month and grew increasingly threatening after he was contacted by the team’s security staff, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release.
According to testimony in the affidavit, in April Singh allegedly sent numerous messages via the X platform, including explicit content; after Cunningham’s team sent him a letter demanding he stop his actions on April 30, he continued sending messages on X with explicit and threatening language, according to the affidavit.
In September 2025 Singh personally delivered a package to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, the Indiana Fever’s home arena, addressed to “Sophie,” which contained a letter and a Guns N’ Roses T-shirt, doused with men’s cologne, according to the affidavit.
Prosecutor’s reaction and next steps
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mirs noted that the Internet has made targeted stalking and intimidation much easier, and threats of violence, both in person and online, will be taken seriously. He added that reaching out for help is never an easy step, regardless of position or public profile. The victim sets an example by coming forward publicly.
A call to the number listed for Singh was not answered. It is not known at this time whether he has an attorney.
According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Singh is currently on probation in Hendricks County, Indiana, after pleading guilty in July 2025 to two counts of invasion of privacy.
The incident occurred amid reports that Cunningham’s teammate, WNBA star Caitlin Clark, became a victim of stalking and harassment by another man from Texas, who was sentenced last year to two-and-a-half years in prison.
