Surrey zoning bylaw change aims to ‘clearly specify’ restricted number of worship places

Surrey council will vote Monday on a zoning bylaw amendment that would “clearly specify” the number of places of worship permitted in select industrial zones.
A corporate report is coming before council on June 29, the contents of which if approved will go to a public hearing.
The report, by Ron Gill, Surrey’s manager of planning and development, says the amendments to be voted on specify how many “places of worship” may operate on-site, at any one time, related to various business park and light impact industrial zones.
The amendments as proposed would see no more than one place of worship permitted on each lot. All strata lots within a single strata plan could together contain only a single place of worship, and a place of worship “shall not exceed” a gross floor area of 700 square metres.
