Toronto rapper is hosting a VIP bash in Toronto this weekend for all the Janices he may have offended in hit song
Drake is throwing a party this weekend in Toronto, but there’s a catch: To get in, your first name must be Janice.
No ID, no access.
The megastar Toronto rapper is organizing the event as an apology-of-sorts for anyone offended by his recent release Janice STFU. (For those not aware, the acronym stands for ‘shut the f— up.’)
The Iceman track triggered quite a reaction online, with plenty of speculation about who the real “Janice” is.
The venue for Sunday’s Janice-only bash is the Cactus Club on Adelaide Street West, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Will Drizzy himself make an appearance? That’s not entirely clear.
On Thursday, a story on his Instagram page revealed plans to host multiple VIP parties this weekend. “All my Janice’s in NY, LA, HOU, MIA, TO. Look out for my invitation for Sunday 👀👀👀👀,” he wrote.
Local Drake fans had lots to look out for in recent months, as the hometown artist teased the release of his latest album — which turned out to be a trilogy.
In April, Drake’s team set up a massive ice sculpture in a downtown parking lot, only to see it declared a safety hazard and dismantled at the behest of Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop.
There was also a controlled explosion at Downsview Park, fireworks on the waterfront and a frozen CN Tower.
