With the 87th pick of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, the Ottawa Senators selected 6’1 centre, Oskar Holmertz, from Linkopings HC of the U20 Nationell.
The second Swede of Ottawa’s 2026 draft class, he produced 36 points in 32 games, which ranked 27th among forwards in the league. EliteProspects’ consolidated rankings has him right on target at 87th, and The Hockey News’ Tony Ferrari has him all the way up at 54th.
EliteProspects describes him as a complete playmaker with quality skating, puck-handling and passing.
All four of Ottawa’s selections thus far have been forwards, which makes sense given they used both of their 2024 and 2025 1st-rounders on defencemen.
