The Public Works and Infrastructure Committee received the 2025 Parking Services Annual Report which outlines ongoing efforts to provide affordable, reliable and accessible parking across Ottawa on Thursday.
The Municipal Parking Management Strategy supports these efforts by promoting convenient parking as well as alternative transportation options.
The city introduced paid parking in popular areas on evenings and weekends to make short-term parking available to more people. It also introduced paid on-street parking around Wellington West and Westboro, which grew parking revenues by 8.8 per cent.
Off-street parking revenues increased by $660,000, while on-street parking revenues increased by $920,000 in 2025. These revenues go toward maintenance and operating costs and cover the Parking Reserve Fund, which aids in the development of future parking systems and operations.
According to a release, Parking Services manages:
4,337 paid on-street parking spaces
2,747 off-street spaces in five parking structures and 11 surface parking lots
6,020 bike parking spaces at parking facilities and within the public right-of-way
The 2025 Parking Services Annual Report outlines how the city will prioritize and address certain issues like accessibility and sustainability. It discusses the concerns of the The Accessibility Advisory Committee to ensure parking for people with disabilities remains widely available. It also outlines how sustainability will be promoted through car share options and more bike parking.
