An eight-year-old girl is dead after an SUV and a pickup truck collided Sunday morning just south of Osgoode, Ottawa police say.
First responders with both the Ottawa and Leeds-Grenville paramedic services were called to the intersection of Nixon Drive and Dalmeny Road around 11:50 a.m. Sunday.
The child was taken to Kemptville District Hospital in critical condition, Ottawa Paramedic Service spokesperson Tyler Leslie told CBC.
Paramedics also treated a woman in her 40s with serious injuries, Leslie said.
In an update Sunday evening, police said the girl had died of her injuries.
Both the girl and the woman were in the SUV, police said. A six-year-old child in the pickup truck also suffered minor injuries, police said.
2nd major crash at intersection this month
Sunday’s crash was the second major collision at that intersection in less than two weeks.
On June 19, a collision there sent four people to hospital, including a child who was airlifted to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The fatal collision investigations unit is asking anyone who saw Sunday’s crash or may have captured it on their dashcam to come forward.
