Winnipeg police have cancelled a Silver Alert for a 79-year-old woman, less than an hour after the alert was issued.

Police previously said the woman was last seen around the Island Lakes neighbourhood in the southeast corner of the city around 2:30 p.m. Monday, according to a Silver Alert issued shortly before 7 p.m. that evening.

Silver Alerts are issued when a vulnerable adult person is reported missing.

The police service issued an update shortly after 7:30 p.m. Monday, saying the woman “was located without incident.”

CBC News has removed the woman’s name and image to protect her privacy now that she has been found.
