Montreal police are searching for a suspect and possible victims in connection with a series of sexual assaults on the city’s public transit system.
The four incidents occurred at Peel, Honoré-Beaugrand and St-Michel métro stations, and the STM’s 33 bus in the spring of 2025 and 2026.
“While the victims were using public transit, either on buses or the métro, the suspect would sit or stand near them and discreetly touch their thighs or buttocks. In one of the incidents that occurred in 2026, he also allegedly followed a minor victim,” police said in a statement issued Thursday.
Police have released images of the suspect to the public in hopes of identifying him.
The man is described as having black hair and a black beard and is believed to be in his 30s. He is approximately five feet, nine inches tall.
He was reportedly seen wearing a dark toque, a red backpack, a beige or dark blue jacket, a black-hooded sweatshirt, jeans and ochre shoes.
“It is also possible to make an anonymous and confidential tip to Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133 or online. Info-Crime Montreal is offering rewards of up to $3,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspects. Certain conditions apply,” police said.
Anyone who has information, who may have been a victim or knows someone who may have been a victim is asked to contact 911, Info-Crime, their local police station or the SPVM’s sexual assault division at 514-280-8502.
Given the fact there are multiple victims, police say that a serial-crime investigation team that is led by the Sûréte du Québec and allows different police forces to pool resources is involved.
