A 12-year-old is in life-threatening condition after two boys crashed an e-scooter near an Etobicoke mall Friday afternoon, Toronto police say.
Around 1:40 p.m., officers responded to a collision near Cloverdale Mall, Toronto police said in a post on social media platform X.
Two boys had been riding an e-scooter when they lost control “for unknown reasons,” police said.
The boys, aged 12, were taken to hospital with injuries, police said. One of them is in life-threatening condition.
E-scooters are not permitted on any public street, including sidewalks, parks and trails, in the city of Toronto. Ontario law also prohibits the operation of e-scooters by anyone under 16.
The East Mall road was closed in both directions between Vickers Road and Coronet Road while police investigated, but has since reopened.
