For a long time, the Oregon Ducks have been one of the premier programs in college football. They also have jerseys that fans adore, with bright colors and fun combinations helping them stand out amid a massive landscape of iconic, beautiful uniforms. For a long time, they probably would’ve been deemed the best uniforms in college football.Â
That is no longer the case, though. In fact, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Barry Werner, they’re not even a top-10 uniform anymore. To be totally fair, Werner did say alternative jerseys were being excluded, specifically calling the Ducks out for their endless list of alternates.
“College football teams have multiple uniforms to choose from thanks to deals with all sorts of athletic companies. For this exercise we will attempt to stick to the basics — whatever that is at Oregon — to rank the Top 25 ‘fits for college programs. Some are iconic and have stood the test of time. Others mesh the perfect look of colors and design,” he argued.Â
Then came the list, with Oregon beating out plenty of programs but not 10 of them. They just missed out, earning the 11th spot on the list. Ahead of them were (in descending order) Boise State, Miami (FL), San Diego State, Notre Dame, Missouri, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida State, and LSU.Â
Many of those are iconic and beautiful, which are two things that can absolutely be used to describe Oregon’s jerseys, even if it’s just the standard green and yellow combination. If alternates were included, though, it would be difficult to keep the Ducks from the top.Â
