A controversial stoppage took place on UFC Fight Pass on Sunday night.
Fury FC 107 in Houston, Texas, followed the biggest fight of the year between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 319.
One fight on the Fury FC main card had shades of Ben Askren’s lone UFC win over Robbie Lawler, which was controversially stopped by Herb Dean after he thought Lawler was unconscious. However, upon releasing the choke, Lawler was wide awake and the former champ protested the stoppage immediately.
A featherweight prospect experienced a similar situation this weekend.

27-year-old Keron Reed suffered the second loss of his young pro career to Carlos Rivera at Fury FC 107.
Rivera defeated Reed via submission (guillotine choke) in the second round, but Reed quickly protested the stoppage, telling the referee he wasn’t unconscious.
It was Rivera who told referee Joe Solis that Reed was out.
It looked like Reed was conscious right after he was released from the choke.
“What the f—?” Reed said after the stoppage (via UFC Fight Pass).
“No I wasn’t!” Reed told the referee he wasn’t unconscious.
“No I wasn’t!” Reed shouted at the referee again.
As Reed protested the stoppage, Rivera stood over his opponent and taunted him like he was peeing on him.
Nut shot drops fighter at Fury FC 107
Fury FC 107 also saw a fighter get dropped by a kick to the groin.
Anthony Johnson, who shares a name with the late Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson, picked up his first pro win in Houston on Sunday.
But before he did, Johnson sent his opponent Roger Smith down to the ground with a kick to the crotch in round 1.
Johnson ended up getting his hand raised in between rounds due to a medical stoppage for Smith.
Fury FC 107 streams live on UFC Fight Pass and is headlined by a flyweight title fight between Paris Moran and Jacob Silva.
