The Calgary Stampede heads into its first Saturday with a packed July 4 schedule, including rodeo, evening entertainment, Pride Day programming, live music, family attractions and a full slate of Western events.
From the midway to the Nutrien Western Event Centre, visitors will have plenty to choose from throughout Stampede Park.
Saturday at Stampede Park
All-day options include the Canadian Armed Forces Displays, Kids’ Midway, interpretive programming at Elbow River Camp Presented By Enbridge, Live Sand Sculpting at the BMO Centre’s Western Oasis and market vendors at The Market starting at 11 a.m.
The agriculture side of the grounds will also be busy, with Born To Buck presented by Holt Renfrew, Cattle Trail, Country Critters, Milky Way Dairy displays and demonstrations, Draft Horse Town, Horse Haven, Nutrien Ag-tivity in the City and the Sheep & Pork Showcases.
The Calgary Stampede has said admission to Stampede Park includes access to agriculture and Western events in the Agriculture Zone, Nutrien Western Event Centre, AltaLink Hall and Northern Lights Arena.
Rodeo and Western action
The Stampede Rodeo is set for 1:30 p.m. at GMC Stadium.
Inside the Nutrien Western Event Centre, the Heavy Horse Show continues Saturday, while Team Cattle Penning presented by Petrus Resources is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The Stampede has described Team Cattle Penning as a fast-paced ranching event where teams of three riders have 60 seconds to separate three identified cattle from a herd and move them into a pen.
The Heavy Horse Show runs July 3 to 6 and is billed by the Stampede as the oldest heavy horse show in North America and the longest-running agricultural competition at the Calgary Stampede.
Family-friendly picks
Families can find Paw Patrol: Dino Rescue! at the BMO Kids’ Zone at 11:15 a.m. and again at 4 p.m., with Paw Patrol meet-and-greets at 12:10 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Gabby’s Dollhouse Dance Party is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., with a meet-and-greet at 3 p.m.
Other daytime options include Bubble Playshop, Little Rodeo Pro, Team T&J Present Kids’ Dino Stompin’ Jamboree, Freestyle Motocross at the Monster Energy Compound and Full Throttle at Dog Bowl Arena in Community Park South.
Elbow River Camp programming includes Camp Riders at 11:45 a.m., Horse Culture at 12:30 p.m., interpretive tours, tipi viewing, Sharing Our Culture at 6 p.m. and flag lowering at 7 p.m.
Siksika Nation Day is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Elbow River Camp.
Music and evening entertainment
The Coca-Cola Stage lineup includes SHY FRiEND at 12:30 p.m., Sea of Lettuce at 1:45 p.m., Dax at 6 p.m., PVRIS at 7:30 p.m. and All Time Low at 9 p.m.
Nashville North has Kelsi Mayne at 4 p.m., Garrett Gregory at 5:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., Blackjack Billy at 7:45 p.m., Redferrin at 9:15 p.m., Foxx Worthee at 11 p.m., Johnny Rivex at 11:59 p.m. and Monster After Party with Dazy Duke.
The Big Four Roadhouse schedule includes Danny Nix and The Heat at 4 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Colin James at 9 p.m. and Nickola Magnolia at 11 p.m.
The Evening Show is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at GMC Stadium.
A$AP Rocky is also scheduled for the Stampede Concert Series presented by Uber Eats at 8:30 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
