Names like Bill Russell come to mind when we think of NBA player-coaches, but the days of that being more common are way behind us.
We won’t see that exact scenario play out this summer, but one active Jazz player is going to do something similar that we don’t really see in sports anymore.
Keyonte George set to coach in a Jazz NBA Summer League game
Jazz reporter Sarah Todd announced that guard Keyonte George will have the opportunity to sit on Utah’s bench in a summer league game this summer and participate in the role of being one of the team’s assistant coaches.

This will be for just one game, taking place on July 9 against the Wizards.
The fact that this is happening at all is intriguing enough, but the Jazz are giving a player some of the coaching duties to a player who is just 22 years old, with three years of NBA experience.
George has made tremendous strides since entering the league, and has seemed to earn the franchise’s trust and respect.
He had a borderline all-star caliber season this past year, averaging 23.6 points, 6.1 assists and 1.1 steals.
