Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold cleared waivers Monday and is now a free agent. Arnold, who faces felony charges in Florida, is expected to visit interested NFL teams in the coming days.
The Detroit Lions released Arnold last week following his arrest on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. Arnold posted bond after Hillsborough County Judge Christopher Sabella set the amount at $1 million.
The judge’s conditions bar Arnold from contacting the six co-defendants or witnesses involved in the case. He remains confined to his Tallahassee residence except when practicing, playing or traveling with an NFL team, or attending court and legal appointments.
Arnold also surrendered his passport within 48 hours of the ruling, per court conditions.
The 23-year-old turned himself in to authorities on June 24. Prosecutors allege Arnold coordinated the abduction and assault of three men he believed had stolen luxury items and $100,000 in cash from him.
According to prosecutors, the alleged robbery occurred at an Airbnb property in the Tampa area. Investigators say six associates of Arnold physically restrained and struck the victims using a firearm, though Arnold was reportedly not present during the incident.
Detroit selected Arnold in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He was ticketed to start opposite D.J. Reed before his release, with two years and $4.8 million remaining on his rookie deal.
