Pair of automobile shows hit Cloverdale Fairgrounds this weekend

A pair of adjacent automobile shows will hit the Cloverdale Fairgrounds this weekend.
The Truck Show—held at the B.C. Vintage Truck Museum—and Hot Rod Saturday—held next door in the Elements Casino parking lot—will welcome hundreds of cars, trucks, and bikes along with thousands of people to the Fairgrounds July 11.
TRUCKS
The Truck Show takes place both in and outside of the the B.C. Vintage Truck Museum. The museum will be open for self-guided tours showcasing the museum’s many vintage vehicles and thousands upon thousands of items of memorabilia. The museum parks some of its vehicles outside too and they get upwards of 50 or more vehicles down for the “show n’ shine” portion of the event.
Anna Dean, museum president, said if anyone is thinking of bringing a vehicle down for their “show n’ shine,” they should know it’s free this year.
“There’s no registration fee,” Dean said. “We register the trucks, but we’re not charging anything this year. Some of them come from way out of town and, with the price of gas and everything, it adds up.”
She told the Cloverdale Reporter the Truck Show serves three purposes. It both educates and entertains the public about transportation history and it raises much-needed funds for the volunteer-run museum.
The museum will also be selling hot dogs and drinks July 11, with all funds going to support the non-profit museum.
On regular weeks, the B.C. Vintage Truck Museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
CARS
Also on July 11, hundreds of hot rods and vintage rides will roll outside Elements Casino.
The 10th annual “Hot Rod Saturday” will run right next door to the Truck Show.
Walt Wagner, the organizer for Hot Rod Saturday, told the Cloverdale Reporter visitors can expect to see more than 500 “amazing” automobiles.
“(Visitors) will be impressed by the types of vehicles they see,” Wagner said. “Everything from classics to hot rods to trucks, vintage vehicles, you name it. It’s a one-of-a-kind show and it’s going to be so amazing.”
Hosted by the British Columbia Hot Rod Association (BCHRA), Wagner said all vehicles are welcome.
Organizers expect to draw about 5,000 people during the seven-hour event.
Admission is free and trophies—19 of them—will be presented at 2:30 p.m.

Hot Rod Saturday will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside Elements Casiono with registration for show automobiles opening at 9 a.m. (Registration is $20 each.)
