Ottawa police responded to a scene involving two large groups of people where gunfire erupted on Saturday night in a west end community.
Emergency responders went to the 1600 block of Merivale Road, a commercial complex, around 7:20 p.m. after reports of a fight between two groups of people. Police were told that shots were fired into one of the vehicles in the altercation, where one passenger was struck by a bullet. They were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people were taken into police custody but were later released after further investigation.
Ottawa police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
