Orillia is gearing up for a day of sport, community, and friendly competition as the inaugural Orillia Street Soccer Tournament in support of the Canadian Street Soccer Association (CSSA) approaches.

Taking place this Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Couchiching Beach Park, in conjunction with the Orillia Black Community’s Community Fest, our day of Street Soccer will transform Couchiching Beach into a high-energy street soccer experience, bringing together players, families, local businesses, and community supporters for a full day of fast-paced action and community connection.

Hosted by the Canadian Street Soccer Association (CSSA), the event is designed to raise awareness for of the CSSA and their initiatives that use sport to create opportunities, build confidence, and foster belonging for individuals experiencing homelessness and other social barriers. The CSSA is also the National Partner for the Homeless World Cup; an international street soccer tournament that takes place every year and brings together unhoused people from around the world for their chance to represent their country.

Organized locally by Michael Fredson, owner of Manticore Books, the day is open to players of all ages and skill levels. While there will are some teams for an organized mini-tournament, the goal is to bring people out to learn about Street Soccer and the Canadian Street Soccer Association.

“This day is about bringing people together through the power of the Beautiful Game,” says Fredson. “Street soccer is a very accessible version of soccer, and honestly everyone can join in and kick a ball around with us. Come down with a group of people, or just you, and have a fun-filled day of soccer, while learning about the CSSA and what we do to bring people together through sport.”
