The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service is warning the public after a medical bag containing medications that may be dangerous was stolen from an emergency scene on Tuesday.
While none of the medications contain narcotics, taking any amount of medication in the kit without medical supervision can be dangerous or fatal, a news release from the City of Winnipeg said.
Most of the medications are packaged in vials and administered intravenously, and should not be taken orally, the release said. Most are also used to provide symptomatic relief, and some are used during resuscitation efforts.
The fire paramedic service said it’s investigating the incident, which has been reported to the Winnipeg Police Service. Anyone with information about where the bag or its medications are is asked to call police at 204-986-6222.
