UPDATE: Peel Regional Police said just before noon that the situation has been resolved and all roads have been reopened. (Earlier story appears below)

Police are asking people to avoid the area of a home near Highway 403 and Mavis Road in Mississauga as a “large police presence” is on scene Wednesday morning to deal with an urgent situation.

Peel Regional Police said shortly before 9:30 a.m. that officers are at a home on Sugarbush Road, just east of Mavis Road and south of the highway, to deal “with a person in crisis.”

Police noted the situation is contained inside the home and there is no threat to neighbours.

“Please avoid the area if possible,” police said, adding they’ll provide an update when the situation has been resolved.
