The Kansas City Chiefs are set to begin training camp in a few weeks while the new NFL calendar takes shape. The NFL recently announced key dates for the next league year, including roster cuts, the trade deadline, Super Bowl LXI, and 2027 free agency.

On Tuesday, the NFL released key dates for the 2026-27 league year, providing a breakdown from training camp through free agency and the 2027 NFL draft for teams, players, agents, and fans. The calendar includes significant deadlines that will shape rosters across the league.

The NFL’s preseason opens with the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on August 6 in Canton, Ohio. The Chiefs begin their exhibition season on Saturday, August 15, against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium. The first full preseason weekend is scheduled for Aug. 13-15, followed by the second preseason weekend from Aug. 20-23 and the third from Aug. 27-29.

The Chiefs and the rest of the league must reduce rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on August 30. Waiver claims from final cuts expire August 31 at 1 p.m. ET, and clubs may establish practice squads after receiving the league’s personnel notice.
