Firefighters called for backup during a two-hour fight against a house fire on a residential street in Orléans late Wednesday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services said they were called to Castle Pines Way near the west end of Brian Coburn Boulevard around 4:45 p.m.
When they arrived, they said they saw flames through a house’s roof and nearby homes threatened, almost immediately calling for backup.
It took about two hours to bring the fire under control, firefighters said.
Ottawa paramedics said two adults were treated for smoke inhalation and minor dehydration — it was 30 C with humidity making it feel like 36 at the international airport at 5 p.m., along with heat from the flames.
