Police officer-involved shooting reported in Surrey Wednesday

A reported officer-involved shooting happened in Surrey Wednesday night between a Surrey RCMP Provincial Operational Support Unit (SPOSU) officer and man who allegedly had a knife.
Around 8 p.m. Wednesday (July 8), freelance photographers said that, according to witnesses, a man who allegedly had a knife was shot by police near 148 Street and Ellendale Drive and 111A Avenue.
The suspect was reportedly taken to hospital.
Peace Arch News has reached out to BC RCMP and the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. (IIO BC), the police watchdog that investigates such incidents.
