IIO renews call for witnesses to Surrey police-involved fatal collision

The Independent Investigations Office is issuing another call for witnesses to a fatal Christmas Day collision between Surrey Police Service and a female pedestrian in Whalley.

The woman died in hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a marked SPS vehicle as it left a gas station in the 10800-block of 132 Street at around 6 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2025.

According to an update shared Thursday (July 9), investigators have so far interviewed witnesses, collected video evidence, carried out forensic examinations and more.

“The analysis of the evidence obtained to date continues, while the IIO also expects to conduct further interviews,” the release states.
