Chevrolet Drivers Still Alive in NASCAR’s $1 Million In-Season Challenge – Speedway Digest

Chevrolet returns to EchoPark Speedway this weekend with momentum across all three of NASCAR’s national series and a strong track record that makes the manufacturer a favorite once again on Atlanta’s high-speed drafting oval.

The Bowtie brand enters Saturday’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race riding a five-race winning streak at the 1.54-mile facility. Most recently, Haas Factory Team driver Sheldon Creed broke through for his first career series victory in February to continue Chevrolet’s dominance at the track.

In the NASCAR Cup Series, Chevrolet’s success at EchoPark Speedway runs even deeper. The manufacturer owns a track-record 46 Cup Series victories and has won five races since Atlanta’s 2022 reconfiguration into a superspeedway-style venue. Three of those victories have come in the summer race, including wins by Hendrick Motorsports teammates Chase Elliott and William Byron.

Elliott remains one of Chevrolet’s strongest Atlanta performers. The Georgia native ranks among the top superspeedway racers this season and is one of only four active drivers with multiple victories at EchoPark Speedway. Byron enters the weekend with momentum of his own after leading a season-high 94 laps at Chicagoland Speedway and scoring one of his strongest performances of 2026.

Another Chevrolet driver looking to rebound is Carson Hocevar. The Spire Motorsports driver earned his first career Cup Series victory earlier this season at Talladega and has developed a knack for drafting tracks. Hocevar owns three consecutive top-10 finishes at EchoPark Speedway, including a runner-up effort in February 2025.

Atlanta will also play a major role in NASCAR’s In-Season Challenge. Chevrolet drivers Alex Bowman, William Byron and Chase Elliott all advanced to Round Three and remain among the eight drivers competing for the $1 million prize.

In the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Chevrolet’s playoff hopes will be represented at Lime Rock Park by McAnally-Hilgemann Racing’s Daniel Hemric, who has emerged as one of the series’ strongest road-course competitors with finishes of eighth, fourth and second on road courses this season.

With championship battles intensifying, a million-dollar tournament underway and a history of success at EchoPark Speedway, Chevrolet enters the weekend positioned to remain a major storyline across NASCAR’s top divisions.
