TORONTO — Toronto police say a suspect has been charged with assault with a weapon after a city bus driver was attacked.

Police say they were called to Wilson Station Wednesday evening for a report that a driver was being assaulted.

The bus driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Toronto Transit Commission CEO Mandeep Lali says the driver is now recovering at home after a “violent assault.”

Lali says the TTC will continue to work with police during the investigation.

The CEO offered his support to the driver in a social media post, adding that violence against TTC employees is unacceptable.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published July 9, 2026.
