Welcome to Saturday’s edition of the RaceFans round-up.
Formula 1 raced in Saudi Arabia in the aftermath of a nearby missile strike four years ago but @RedPill argues the hazard of trying to race in Bahrain under the current circumstances is very different:
That was under quite different conditions and situation with the Houthi movement sending missile to an oil facility with no hints that it was going to happen. Compared to what’s going on now, once Israel and USA bombed Iran. And there’s been massive retaliation at war levels, with Bahrain is sitting on the front row of it, in a totally exposed setting in an off and on again war.
Iran has been sending thousands of drones and missiles to many tourist areas into many different countries including Bahrain. There’s no way anyone with any sense would spend any money or risk people into a potential theater of war. And certainly no insurance company will cover that risk; meaning no EU company/teams can’t send employees into that zone without a change in coverage, nor can force them to go.
I would think Iran would love to send a message to the world about F1 and its oil sponsors.
