While the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta this weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is in Connecticut at Lime Rock Park.
The 1.5-mile road course in Lakeville, Connecticut, is hosting the Truck Series for the second year in a row. The ARCA Menards Series raced at the venue on Friday afternoon, with Thomas Annunziata scoring the win.
“You gotta be very, very patient at a racetrack like this,” said McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver Tyler Ankrum Friday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “Let the mistakes that others make come to you and ultimately, qualifying, it’s something we don’t ever really talk about on road courses, how important it is.”
Lime Rock a challenge for Truck Series drivers
Passing is difficult at Lime Rock, making Saturday morning’s qualifying session all the more important. Ankrum said it will be difficult to make up ground, especially coming from the rear of the field.
Saturday’s race is the second straight road course race for the Truck Series, which last raced at Naval Base Coronado on June 19. There are only five races left in the Truck Series regular season, with Layne Riggs leading the series standings and Jake Garcia holding the 10th and final provisional Chase berth by five points over Grant Enfinger ahead of Saturday.
Truck Series practice will begin at 9 a.m. ET Saturday (FS2, FS1 at 9:30) with qualifying following at 10:05 ET. The LiUNA 150 will go green shortly after 1 p.m. ET, with coverage on FS1, NRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
