As Americans live longer than ever, health experts say the key to adding years — and quality of life — may come down to simple habits repeated every day.

A registered dietitian at the Washington Athletic Club says longevity is built on consistent daily routines. Liz Wyosnick, who specializes in nutrition and longevity counseling and has developed a longevity wellness package, recommends what she calls the “5 for 50 Challenge” as a practical way to improve longevity.

The challenge focuses on five daily goals Wyosnick encourages people to adopt:

Drink at least 60 ounces of water.Eat at least three cups of vegetables, with one cup required to be green.Consume at least 25 grams of fiber.Support a 12-14-hour overnight fast.Enjoy at least 30 minutes of movement.WAC Dietitian Liz Wyosnick recommends at least 30 minutes of movement daily as part of the "5 for 50 Challenge".
