CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Women’s Soccer senior goalkeeper Gracie Murray has been named the Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league today (Monday, Aug. 18).

Murray helped Asheville to a 1-1-0 record in the team’s first week of play, with a close 1-0 loss to Miami (Fla.) on Aug. 14 and a 1-0 win at Wofford on Aug. 17. The shutout at Wofford was the program’s first win at Wofford since 2016 and the first shutout against the Terriers since 2023.

Murray totaled 180:00 in net, totaling six saves in each contest along with her first shutout of the season and the seventh clean sheet of her career.

This is Murray’s first career Player of the Week honor. The Harrisburg, N.C. native is an environmental studies major.
