In a significant development in the series of vehicle thefts that plagued Mississauga, a 23-year-old man named Gurjeet Singh Virk from Erin, Ontario, has turned himself into the Peel police. The arrest, announced by police on Saturday, followed a warrant issued for his involvement in multiple thefts and attempted thefts from residential parking garages near Hurontario Street and Burnhamthorpe Road East back in May. The thefts had sparked ‘Project Taillight,’ a targeted police operation that led to the execution of search warrants at residences in Mississauga and Erin.
This resulted in the seizure of key fobs, key-programming devices, and a small amount of cash believed to be crime proceeds. Alongside Singh Virk, another suspect, a 21-year-old from Mississauga named Prince, was previously arrested and charged with 21 theft offenses and a breach of a release order. Singh Virk now faces the same charges as Prince. The investigation remains ongoing as police analyze seized evidence and pursue additional leads.
