The New Orleans Pelicans ended their Summer League misery Saturday in Las Vegas.

The Pelicans, who trailed by as many as 18 in the game, used a late fourth-quarter rally to beat the Charlotte Hornets 95-91.

The Pelicans won a Summer League game for the first time since 2023, snapping a 12-game losing streak in Vegas.

Hunter Dickinson led the way with 21 points. The second-year center knocked down a 3-pointer with 50 seconds left that gave the Pelicans their first lead of the game.

“We knew he was going to be in a deep drop,” Dickinson said. “I work on that every day. So I just went out there and executed.”

Dickinson played in just five NBA games for the Pelicans as a rookie, averaging 2.4 points and one rebound. He spent most of the year with the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ G League team. He averaged 18 points and 10.8 rebounds in Birmingham.

The Pels trailed 56-45 at halftime.

“Coach told us at halftime that we needed to be more physical,” Dickinson said. “We just had to be tougher. Obviously on the glass, but also on defense. The guys really responded out there.”

The Pelicans trailed 89-80 with 4:13 remaining before closing out the game on a 15-2 run.

Dickinson shot 9 of 18 from the floor, including 3-of-6 on 3-pointers. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Kobe Bufkin, who had 30 points in the Pels’ Summer League opening loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, scored 19 points. He also had six rebounds, five assists and four steals. He shot just 1 for 7 on 3-pointers, though.

Jaron Pierre came off the bench and scored 12 points, despite missing all five of his 3-point attempts. Pierre, the New Orleans native and former St. Augustine High standout, played 25 minutes. He played just 12 minutes in the opener. His play on the defensive end down the stretch Saturday was key in the comeback.

Jalon Moore scored 13 points for the Pelicans, who won despite getting outrebounded 49-30. They made up for it by committing just seven turnovers. Meanwhile, Charlotte committed 22 turnovers.

The Pelicans will play Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
