Evo Summer Cinema returns to Stanley Park with elevated VIP experience

Enjoy a series of free screenings from July 14 to Sept. 1

As the sun sets over Stanley Park, the grand lawn at Ceperley Meadow slowly fills with blankets, lawn chairs and the hum of thousands of people settling in for one of Vancouver’s most iconic summer traditions.

EVO Summer Cinema is back, once again transforming the park into the largest outdoor movie festival in Canada. 

Presented by Evo Car Share in partnership with festival producer Fresh Air Cinema, the series continues to be a favourite event among both locals and tourists, where estimated attendance has reached upwards of 10,000 people in the past. 

This summer’s calendar offers weekly screenings, each Tuesday from July 14 through Sept. 1. 

“You look out across the field and you see a lot of happy people,” says Jason Bashnick, Managing Director of Fresh Air Cinema. “But even with that scale, it somehow still feels very personal to see everyone gathered together, enjoying the event.”

This year’s summer screenings include a series of movies from different genres, including action-adventure, sci-fi, animation, romantic comedy and more. Find the full movie line-up here.

General admission for the screenings are free and seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. One of this year’s key features is the VIP movie experience. 

For $32, guests can reserve a guaranteed Muskoka chair in the best viewing zone for the most relaxing experience. 

The VIP experience also includes free swag and goodies from the sponsors, and an optional upgrade to include a Nordic Heated Seat Cushion to stay warm and toasty all night!

Doors to the VIP Zone open at 5 p.m. and guests can enjoy drinks and food while taking in the sunset before the movie begins at around 9:20 p.m. 

“The VIP package gives attendees an opportunity to experience the movie in a different and more elevated way,” Bashnick says.
