Like many other football fans across the country, the residents of Coronation Street stayed up late to watch the England v Norway match on Saturday.
The Three Lions progressed in the quarters when they won 2-1 in a match held at the Miami Stadium.
Their last-four tie, this time against Argentina, will be played at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday 15 July, airing on BBC One – with coverage starting at 7pm.
To celebrate England’s win, a special scene was inserted at the beginning of today’s (13 July) episode.
Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) walked across the road towards pal Kirk Sutherland (Andrew Whyment), and started belting out 1996 UK number 1 novelty song “Three Lions” by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, and the rock band the Lightning Seeds.

Kirk was insistent that the England squad would go all the way to the final after their match against Argentina, and said that he wished his late grandfather was still around to witness their success.
Apparently Grandad Sutherland was such a fan of the beautiful game that he cried when Pickles the dog located the stolen Jules Rimet Trophy in 1966.
Tyrone then grabbed Kirk by the arm and they bounced down the cobbles singing.
As Corrie is filmed roughly six to eight weeks in advance of airing, this scene will have been filmed prior to opening of the Coronation Street Experience set tours yesterday morning and then added into the finished edit.
This is actually the first time in which the soap has recorded a topical insert, though as fans of EastEnders know, it’s something they do quite often.
The first of these, in 1987, related to the London International Boat Show. Wimbledon results and the outcome of the general election was also covered in that year.

Over the last 40 years we’ve also seen the Hillsborough disaster referenced, the death of Michael Jackson, and the birth of royal babies.
Following Elizabeth II’s death in 2022, royalist Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) could be seen commemorating the late Queen with Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) in the pub.
Linda then placed a picture of Elizabeth beside bust of Queen Victoria on the bar.
