Toronto Police have arrested 25-year-old Omar Abdul Singateh of Brampton on 10 charges in connection with a shooting that occurred at Polson Pier early Sunday morning.
According to police, a shooting broke out between two individuals near Polson Street and Cherry Street at approximately 3:30 a.m. After the gunfire, Singateh allegedly carjacked a rideshare vehicle while passengers were still inside. During his attempt to flee, he also struck several vehicles and pedestrians.
Two people, including Singateh himself, suffered gunshot wounds, while another person was injured after being hit by the stolen vehicle. All three were taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Police recovered a firearm from the stolen rideshare vehicle.
Omar Abdul Singateh, 25, of Brampton, has been charged with 10 offences, including reckless discharge of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited, robbery, four counts of forcible confinement, dangerous operation causing bodily harm, and dangerous operation.
He appeared in court at the Ontario Court of Justice on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
