Another Former Vancouver Canucks winger has been officially claimed off waivers and will continue his career overseas after being waived by Spartak Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin had major goals coming into the offseason, most notably asked to entice free-agents and make trades that fill the glaring holes so the 2024-25 season does not repeat itself.

The busy season for ex-Vancouver Canucks continues once again as it was announced on Monday that former winger Nikolai Goldobin (AKA Nikolay Goldobin), has been officially claimed off KHL waivers by SKA St. Petersburg after being waived by Spartak Moscow.

Drafted 27th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks, Goldobin played in 125 NHL games between the Vancouver Canucks and Sharks, where he for Danish winger Jannik Hansen during the 2026-17 season.

Between 2015 and 2019, with constant stints between the NHL and American Hockey League, he recorded 19 goals and 27 assists for 46 points and 24 penalty minutes, but was never able to find himself as an everyday player.

Goldobin has spent the past five seasons in the KHL playing for CSKA Moscow, Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Spartak, recording 277 points in 339 regular-season and playoff games. – Derek O’Brien
