If you’ve ever spent a drive through Alberta’s foothills staring longingly at a range road or ranch doubletrack snake its way through the landscape before disappearing, TransRockies gravel bonanza, The Range, could be for you. With multiple distances, including a whopping 211-km Frontier distance, departing from Claresholm, Alberta, there’s an experience built for every rider.

Last weekend, sunny prairie skies delivered a weekend to remember. Brian Loewen and Sinead Tracey braved heat, dust and the quiet enemy: wind to take the Frontier wins. That was a hefty 8:41 on course for Loewen and 8:59 for Tracey. There really are endless roads to explore in Alberta.

The Range includes a special connector to make the loop possible. Burke Creek Ranch opens its network of doubletrack and private roads to TransRockies just for the weekend.
2026 TransRockies The Range
Taking top honours in the slightly more reasonable Classic Range distance, Kelsey Duffield finished 122km in 4:16 to win the women’s race and, in 4:04, Zachary Guenther the men’s.

An 85km Rustler route and the 60km Rodeo course offered an opportunity to experience foothills gravel of Southwestern Alberta for the gravel curious all the way to the most hardcore endurance athletes.
