Dunbar Summer Series is in full swing for another year, and another big week of downhill mayhem. Fernie kicked off the marathon string of DH Canada Cups and BC Cups over the weekend. Seth Sherlock and Lauren Rosser take the opening wins. Riders are already off to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort for the week’s second race, which takes place today.

In the men’s race, Seth Sherlock edged out Henry Sherry for the win by just 0.3 seconds. Norco race/engineer Kirk McDowall crossed the line third. The UCI and WBD may have, controversially, done away with five rider podiums but Dunbar isn’t walking away from tradition so easily. Gabe Neron and Nicolas Brochet finish fourth and fifth, with just 0.11 seconds separating them.

In the women’s race, Lauren Rosser also takes the win in a very close race. Just 0.7 seconds separated Rosser from second-place finisher Megan Bedard. Emmy Lan rounds out the top three with Paz Gallo Fuentes and Sigourney de Jong stepping onto the extended podium.

Jenna Foreman led the junior women’s race, with Piper Graaten, Izzy Thorpe-Shaw, Charlotte Gadbois Schuett and, up from the U.S.A., Adeline Dishman rounding out the top five.

If the elite races were tight, the junior men’s race was just wild. Julian Moutinho takes the win but, with Austin Makson and Rhys Vath 0.14 and 0.81 seconds behind, it should be the start of a very fast week for the juniors. Elliott Dishman and Rafe Hudson finish 1.99 and 3.78 seconds behind in fourth and fifth.
