promotio
The upcoming fight between Garcia and Benn marks Zuffa Boxing’s
biggest matchup so far. It is also the promotion’s first-ever
global boxing card to air exclusively on Paramount+. White hyped up
the bout during his announcement.
“This is such a great fight,” White said. “Conor Benn has won 26 of
his 27 professional fights and is coming off a big win in the U.K.
earlier this year. Ryan Garcia is one of the biggest stars in
boxing and a world champion. These guys are in their prime, and
it’s a fight they’ve both wanted for a long time.”
“They’ll come face-to-face for the first time today before stepping
into the ring on September 12 during Mexican Independence Day
weekend at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,” White added. “The energy
in that place will be incredible.”
Garcia will headline a Mexican Independence Day weekend event for
the first time in his career after defeating Mario Barrios for the
WBA welterweight title in February. Meanwhile, Benn challenges for
his first world title after a decisive win over two-time world
champion Regis Prograis.
Additional bouts for the Sept. 12 card are expected to be announced
in the coming weeks.
