There are two Canadians this week at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England — Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. and Corey Conners of Listowel, Ont.

Nick Taylor (-1, T19)
Taylor started his week with a bang, making birdie on the opening three holes. He finished the front-nine 3-under par as he aims to contend for his first major championship. Taylor entered the week as the No. 67-ranked golfer in the world, coming off a T26 finish at the Genesis Open in Scotland last week.
He is aiming to make the cut at the Open Championship for the first time in his career.

Conners teed off just before 1pm ET in the opening round at Royal Birkdale. He enters to week as the No. 53rd-ranked golfer in the world and has made the cuts in five straight Opens, including a T10 last year at Royal Portrush.
